Pyrex-XL Gas Agent Extinguisher
During the design and modernization of armored combat vehicles, effective use of internal volume is a critical engineering requirement. Conventional fire suppression cylinders discharge the extinguishing agent directly from a fixed location, which can create installation difficulties—especially in tank modernization programs and compact armored vehicle platforms.
To overcome these limitations, Nero Industries has developed the Pyrex-XL Gas Agent Extinguisher, offering increased suppression capacity while maintaining flexibility in system layout and integration.
NATO STANAG 4317–Compliant Fire Suppression Performance
The Pyrex-XL system delivers fire suppression performance within the same activation duration defined by NATO STANAG 4317, ensuring no compromise in operational safety.
By integrating a hose-based discharge configuration, the Pyrex-XL extinguisher allows the extinguishing agent to be delivered precisely to critical fire-risk zones, even when direct cylinder placement is not feasible.
The hose line can be extended up to 2 meters by increasing internal cylinder pressure, enabling improved coverage and optimized placement within the vehicle.
Purpose of Pyrex-XL Gas Agent Extinguishers
Pyrex-XL extinguishers with gas agents are specialized fire suppression devices designed to extinguish fires using clean and efficient gas agents, including:
CO₂
HFC-227ea (FM-200)
Inergen
These extinguishers are particularly suitable for confined spaces, sensitive equipment zones, and environments where residue-producing extinguishing agents are not acceptable.

Compliance and Testing Standards
Pyrex-XL gas agent extinguishers are designed and tested in accordance with internationally recognized standards:
NFPA 2001 – Clean Agent Fire Extinguishing Systems
ISO 14520 – Gas Fire Suppression Performance
UL 2127 – Gas-Based Fire Suppression Certification
EN 15004 – European Fire Suppression Standards
MIL-STD-810H – Environmental and military durability tests
The extinguisher cylinders have successfully passed high-temperature, low-temperature, humidity, and environmental tests required for military applications.
FM-200® Clean Agent Fire Protection
FM-200® is a colorless, non-toxic clean agent designed to protect high-value assets in normally occupied spaces. It is especially suitable where:
Cleanup of other agents is problematic
Storage space for extinguishing agents is limited
Electrically non-conductive fire suppression is required
FM-200 fire suppression systems are designed to discharge within 10 seconds into an enclosed area capable of retaining the agent. The primary extinguishing mechanism is heat absorption, with a secondary chemical contribution during flame interaction.
FM-200 leaves no residue and is safe for use in occupied environments.
