Radiation Measuring Device

The Radiation Measuring Device is designed to detect and measure gamma radiation dose rates by using dedicated radiation probes. It enables real-time monitoring of radioactive exposure levels and supports early detection of radiological threats in accordance with NATO AEP-54 operational requirements.

Deployment Areas

The system is suitable for deployment on military vessels, land vehicles, aircraft, and fixed critical infrastructure installations. It can be used in marine, air, land, and strategic facilities where continuous radiological monitoring and integration with command or IT systems are required.

System Configuration and Detection Structure

The Radiation Measuring Device operates with Nero Radiation Probes that function as gamma dose rate detectors. These probes feature a robust steel body and are designed for external mounting on platform superstructures.

Radiation probes provide digital data output and can be directly integrated into vessel or vehicle IT systems via RS485 and CANBUS interfaces. The system supports both low-level and high-level radiation detection ranges, enabling wide-spectrum monitoring of radiological conditions.

The detectable energy range of the system spans from 60 keV to 3 MeV, allowing accurate detection of gamma radiation across operationally relevant energy levels.

Sensor Technologies

The system supports multiple sensor technologies to adapt to different mission requirements. Photodiode sensors use square PIN photodiodes with a 100 mm² active area, combined with scintillator-based ceramic carriers to ensure reliable gamma detection.

Geiger-Muller sensors are also supported, featuring ultra-fine mica windows with high alpha, beta, and gamma efficiency. These sensors are designed for reliable operation, ease of use, and consistent performance under field conditions.

Test Standards

The Radiation Measuring Device is developed in line with the radiation detection sensitivity requirements defined under NATO AEP-54 standards for CBRN threat detection.

Functional Role

The system continuously measures gamma radiation dose rates and transmits real-time data through digital communication interfaces. By combining robust radiation probes with adaptable sensor technologies, the Radiation Measuring Device enables early warning, situational awareness, and informed decision-making in radiological threat environments.
