While designing armoured combat vehicles, the most important mat-ter is to use the volume within the vehicle correctly and effectively. As the extinguisher agent is spouted directly from the cylinder at Nero Industry’s existing Pyrex fire suppression cylinders, it is significant to locate it at an effective location within the vehicle. At tank modernisa-tion or on small armoured vehicles projects, problems have been faced locating the cylinders within the vehicle. Nero could provide fire suppression system feature within same duration as per Nato Stanag 4317 by means of Pyrex extinguisher cylinder with hose they develo-ped against these problems. Besides, hose line could be extended up to 2 meters by increasing the pressure on the cylinder. By this way, vehicle designs could be easily designed with Pyrex cylinder with hose by Nero Industry team and its qualification could be completed more quickly.

Pyrex Fire Extinguishers with Gas Agents

Purpose:
Pyrex fire extinguishers equipped with gas agents are specialized fire suppression cylinders designed to suppress fires using gases such as CO2, HFC-227ea, or FM-200. These high-performance extinguishers provide rapid and effective fire suppression, ensuring minimal risk of combustion during discharge. Their lightweight and portable design make them ideal for use in confined spaces or near sensitive equipment, such as electrical panels, where traditional extinguishing methods may be less effective.

Advantages:

  • High Performance: Rapid fire suppression using effective gas agents.
  • Minimal Risk: Eliminates the risk of combustion during discharge.
  • Ease of Portability: Lightweight and easy to handle.

Types of Pyrex Fire Suppression Extinguishers:

  1. CO2 Fire Suppression Extinguishers:

    • Agent: CO2 gas.
    • Mechanism: Displaces oxygen to suppress and extinguish fires.
    • Use: Ideal for electrical fires and confined spaces.
  2. Inergen Fire Suppression Extinguishers:

    • Agent: Gas mixture simulating atmospheric air.
    • Mechanism: Lowers oxygen levels to effectively suppress fires.
    • Use: Preferred in areas with sensitive equipment, such as data centers.
  3. HFC-227ea Fire Suppression Extinguishers:

    • Agent: HFC-227ea (FM-200) gas.
    • Mechanism: Safe, clean gas used for fire suppression in high-risk areas.
    • Use: Suitable for environments with flammable materials.
  4. FM-200 Fire Suppression Extinguishers:

    • Agent: FM-200 gas (HFC-227ea).
    • Mechanism: Reduces oxygen and cools the fire to suppress it.
    • Use: Commonly used in areas with electronic equipment.

Applications:

  • Commercial and Industrial: Ideal for use in data centers, control rooms, and laboratories.
  • Specialized: Deployed in marine systems, military vehicles, libraries, and communication centers.

Key Features:

  • Effective: Gas agents quickly suppress fires by disrupting the combustion process.
  • Harmless: Safe for people and does not damage equipment or materials.
  • Recyclable: Environmentally friendly and recyclable after use.
  • Fast Response: Rapid discharge for emergencies, with a 3-millisecond activation via pyrotechnic triggers.
  • Long-Lasting: Long shelf life for reliable protection.
  • No Cleanup Needed: No residue left behind, eliminating post-fire cleanup efforts.

Testing Standards:

  • NFPA 2001: For the design, installation, and maintenance of gas-based suppression systems.
  • ISO 14520: Global standards for fire suppression performance.
  • UL 2127: Underwriters Laboratories standards for gas-based systems.
  • EN 15004: European performance standards for fire suppression systems.

What It Does:
Gas-based fire extinguishers using agents such as Halon, FM-200 (HFC-227ea), and NOVEC 1230 are engineered to suppress fires by reducing the oxygen supply. They are widely utilized in sectors like power generation, data processing, oil refineries, and medical facilities.

Additional Information:

  • High-Temperature Resilience: Meets MIL-STD-810H military standards for environmental durability.
  • Aluminum Body: Lightweight and practical for ease of use.
  • Operational Range: Functions in extreme temperatures, from -32°C to +120°C.
  • FM-200®: A clean, non-toxic gas, FM-200® protects high-value assets in occupied spaces, offering quick deployment without leaving residue. Its chemical blend of carbon, fluorine, and hydrogen effectively absorbs heat to extinguish fires.

Conclusion:
Pyrex fire suppression systems offer reliable and efficient fire protection, particularly in environments where conventional methods may not be sufficient. With advanced gas agents like HFC-227ea or FM-200, these fire suppression cylinders provide high-performance fire extinguishing capabilities across various sectors, including commercial, industrial, and specialized areas like military and armored vehicles.
